Jayce Carmelo Luevanos would always bring the neighborhood kids to his family’s home, just a block away from the elementary school where he perished.
The Luevanos’ yard was often packed with children, his grandfather, Carmelo Quiroz, told USA Today.
Ten-year-old Jayce was among 21 persons whose lives were cut short in a mass shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on May 24, 2022.
Another fatal victim at the Robb Elementary shooting was Jayce’s cousin, Jailah Nicole Silguero.
Jayce would make his grandparents a pot of coffee every morning. He wrote notes like, “I love you, Grandpa.”
“He was our baby,” Quiroz said.
