‘Remembering America’s Gun Victims’ – Jacklyn Jaylen Cazares (Uvalde, Texas)

Jacklyn Jaylen Cazares was  full of life, often taking it upon herself to brighten those around her.

“Jackie was the one that would go out of her way to help anyone,” her father, Jacinto Cazares, told ABC News.

The nine-year-old was among 21 persons whose lives were cut short in a mass shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on May 24, 2022.

Two weeks prior to her shooting, Jackie received her First Communion.

Jackie was cousins, classmates and close friends with 10-year-old Annabell Guadalupe Rodriguez, another fatal victim of the shooting at Robb Elementary.

“It gives me some comfort that she … would have done something to help her classmates in that very scary scenario,” her father said.

On her official obituary, Jacklyn was also described a free spirit that was always willing and wanting to help others.

Her favorite color was sage green, she loved to sing, make videos on TikTok and interact with her friends on Snapchat, the obituary said.

While she loved all animals, her four dogs were her world, it added.

“She yearned to become a Veterinarian and dreamed of visiting Paris one day,” the obituary said.
